The student visa, from start to finish

Subclass 500 is the visa that starts everything, and it is the one we support most. Here is what it involves, with the real figures, checked October 2026.

The Genuine Student requirement, plainly

Since 2024, the application includes written questions about your circumstances, your course choice, and your plans. Two things matter. Your answers must be true and backed by evidence. And hoping to stay in Australia long-term is not penalised. We prepare this part with you properly; it is where good support shows most.

What we do: course + provider selection → enrolment and CoE → OSHC → Genuine Student preparation → pre-departure. AUD $2,000 for a new application from outside Australia, the same for every passport, stated before you commit. Every price is on the Pricing page.

*The Department of Home Affairs applies the charge by the passport used in the application and by the course. AUD $745: a passport from the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu or Vanuatu, for any course. AUD $2,050: a passport from one of 10 ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries, for any course. The 10 are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. AUD $2,050: any other passport, for a student taking only an English course (ELICOS) or a non-award course. AUD $2,500: other applicants.
