The visas on your journey, explained plainly
Studying in Australia is a sequence of visas, not just one. Here is each step as it applies to most students: what it is, what it costs, and what we do. Every figure below was verified against the Department of Home Affairs in July 2026.
Student visa — subclass 500
The visa that starts everything. We support your application end to end.
Temporary Graduate visa — subclass 485
Work rights after you graduate. We plan for this visa before you even enrol.
The skilled pathways beyond
Where the journey can lead after study and work — planned course by course.
Depending on your occupation and circumstances: points-tested skilled visas (189, 190, 491) or employer-sponsored routes (482 leading to 186). Which of these is realistic depends on the course you choose today. The course explorer shows the answer for every course. Individual advice on these visas comes through the Registered Migration Agent access included in every Studyaway plan.
