Studying in Australia is a sequence of visas, not just one. Here is each step as it applies to most students: what it is, what it costs, and what we do. Every figure below was checked against the law and the Department of Home Affairs in October 2026.

The visa that starts everything. We support your application end to end.

Temporary Graduate visa - subclass 485

Depending on your occupation and circumstances: points-tested skilled visas (189, 190, 491) or employer-sponsored routes (482 leading to 186). *The Department of Home Affairs applies the charge by the passport used in the application and by the course. AUD $745: a passport from the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu or Vanuatu, for any course. AUD $2,050: a passport from one of 10 ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries, for any course. The 10 are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. AUD $2,050: any other passport, for a student taking only an English course (ELICOS) or a non-award course. AUD $2,500: other applicants.
